Hace unos días me llegó un mail que me dejó bastante preocupado. Venía de una amiga de Rusia, con la que hacía bastante tiempo que no hablaba, y claro, no sabía de sus andanzas.

El caso es que el subject decía “Emergency”, lo cual ya daba que pensar. Copio el correo íntegro.

I am really stranded in Nigeria, because I forgot my little bag in the Taxi where my money, passport, documents and other valuable things were kept on my way to the Hotel am me, the present condition that i found myself is very hard for me to explain.
staying, I am facing a hard time here because i have no money on me. I am now owning a hotel bill of 1000euros and they wanted me to pay the bill soon else they will have to seize my bag and hand me over to the Hotel Management., I need this help from you urgently to help me back home, I need you to help me with the hotel bill and i will also need 1500 euros to feed and help myself back home so please can you help me with a sum of 2500 euros to sort out my problems here? El caso es que ese tipo de programas existen (de hecho yo estuve a punto de hacer uno parecido hace tiempo), y cuando busqué información en su momento, encontré una web sobre Nigeria que hablaba de ese programa. Además es una de estas cosas que la persona que te lo manda, es capaz de hacer.
Para más inri, esta amiga no aparecía por msn, ni skype, ni nadie sabía nada de ella. ¡Parecía que estaba realmente desaparecida! Asi que no pude hacer más que responder el mail preguntando si era algún tipo de broma, y si no era así, que me respondiera a una sencilla pregunta que sólamente ella podría contestarme (muy como de espías esto, vaya…). Y por supuesto no recibí respuesta.

Ahora, una semana y algo después, y tras resolver el asunto con la persona en cuestión, google ya nos ofrece toda clase de resultados sobre la maniobra curiosa ésta, en la que el mail es hackeado con algún keylogger o similar, y luego la persona te pide que por favor, le mandes rápida e inmediatamente el dinero a un banco en Nigeria mediante Western Union.
